A British social media influencer who relocated to Ibiza is facing distress as heavy rainfall caused significant flooding at her exquisite residence. Video footage from the Spanish island depicts intense flooding, turning streets into torrents and water streaming through the roof of Ibiza Airport.
Reports from local media detailed a deluge of rain within the airport, leading to flooding in the security check area due to continuous, heavy leaks that inundated the space completely. The entire island is currently under a red warning for heavy rainfall until 4 pm local time.
Stella Tzortzi, residing on a farm in Ibiza, shared updates on the havoc wreaked by the rain in the streets and her home. She informed her 353,000 TikTok followers about the flooding in her house, with leaks in the roof causing substantial damage. Additionally, she expressed concern for her pig, Sheila, trapped in rising water levels but later reassured her followers that help was on the way.
Emergency services in the Balearic Islands responded to 61 incidents, mostly concentrated in Ibiza, where roads were closed, and a school in San Antonio was evacuated as a precaution. Basements, garages, and access routes to the airport were severely affected by flooding, resulting in streets resembling rivers, damaging trees and vehicles.
Firefighters are actively engaged in rescuing individuals stranded in vehicles and homes, according to local authorities in Ibiza. Road closures have been implemented from Sant Antoni to Santa Eulària and on the E-10 route. Residents are advised to contact 112 in emergencies, while the fire service is experiencing a high volume of assistance requests. Extreme caution is urged, with a warning to avoid unnecessary travel and heed official alerts.
In Sueca, footage captured the town submerged under stagnant water after the rainfall subsided. Meanwhile, a video from Murcia displayed a pedestrian being swept away by muddy floodwater along a road.
