British Airways is set to expand its transatlantic route network by introducing new non-stop flights from London to the United States in 2026. The upcoming flight service will link London Heathrow to St. Louis, a key city in Missouri situated in the heart of the Midwest.
Renowned for its iconic Gateway Arch and lively neighborhoods, St. Louis is seen by the UK airline as an appealing destination for all types of travelers. Flights to St. Louis are scheduled to commence on April 19, 2026, operating four times weekly during the summer period.
Following the announcement, Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the addition of St. Louis to the airline’s US network. He highlighted the city’s rich historical background, vibrant cultural offerings, and its role as a gateway to other exciting destinations.
British Airways boasts of serving a greater number of American cities compared to any other UK carrier, with St. Louis becoming its 27th destination. Additionally, the launch will establish British Airways as the sole UK airline providing direct flights to St. Louis.
The introduction of the St. Louis route coincides with the centennial celebration of Route 66, a famous highway that starts in Chicago, passes through St. Louis, and extends to Los Angeles.
A statement from British Airways regarding the launch emphasizes the nostalgic charm of St. Louis along its portion of Route 66, featuring vintage diners, historic motels, and roadside attractions, ideal for travelers seeking a classic American road trip experience. Apart from its Route 66 connection, St. Louis offers attractions like Forest Park, numerous free museums, and a thriving craft beer scene, appealing to short getaways and extended adventures.
The city’s strong sporting heritage, including teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, and City Soccer Club, has earned it recognition as the ‘Ultimate Sports City’ by ESPN The Magazine.
Travelers heading to St. Louis can select from three cabin classes: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class), with return fares starting at £529 from October 1. Passengers in Club World have the opportunity to experience British Airways’ latest business class seat, the Club Suite, on selected flights, featuring private space, fully flat beds, and a high-resolution entertainment screen.
Beginning in the upcoming summer season, British Airways will resume its twice-daily flights to Miami, introduce daily services to Dallas-Fort Worth, increase flights to Las Vegas, and operate to San Diego and Austin 14 times per week. Moreover, New York (JFK) flights will exclusively depart from London Heathrow, including a new service utilizing the airline’s 777-200 fleet.
