Families planning to travel with Ryanair should be aware of additional charges when booking their holiday. The budget airline imposes extra fees for services like seat selection and baggage allowance. Passengers willing to let Ryanair assign seats and travel with only a small cabin bag can stick to the base fare.
However, there is a requirement for adults traveling with children under 12. At least one adult must purchase a seat, which can cost up to 10 euros per way. The upside is that up to four children can sit next to the adult at no extra charge, all seated together in the same row.
In contrast, easyJet mentions that families with children do not have to pay for seats. It is advised to check in early if seats are not being purchased to increase the chances of being seated together.
Jet2holidays ensures that children under 12 are seated near their accompanying adults. If seating together is not feasible, children will be placed as close as possible, with no more than one row’s separation. Advance seat booking is encouraged to secure preferred seats for the whole group.
