“Aldi Unveils Expansion Plans for 20+ Stores in UK”

Date:

Aldi has announced a detailed roster of over 20 stores set to receive significant upgrades by the end of this year.

The grocery chain has specified that Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria and Ebbw Vale in Wales are among the two stores scheduled for expansions by December. Additionally, 21 other Aldi stores are in line for various enhancements, including revamped fixtures, improved layouts, and upgraded sustainability features.

With more than 500 store upgrades already completed, Aldi has implemented modernized layouts, expanded space for fresh and chilled items, and wider aisles to enhance the shopping experience.

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s Managing Director of National Real Estate, emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing customer experience through ongoing investments in store infrastructure. The objective is to create sustainable and convenient stores that cater to community needs in the long term.

Looking ahead, Aldi plans to open approximately 40 new stores across the UK in 2025, with a current store count exceeding 1,050 locations and a target of reaching 1,500 stores in the future. The company has identified key locations for new store openings, each requiring a 20,000 sq ft store size with ample parking and strategic road access.

Aldi is also seeking suitable locations in Central London for its Aldi Local store format, which typically consists of a minimum of 5,000 sq ft trading space and an additional 3,000 sq ft ancillary space.

Mr. Neale reiterated Aldi’s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable food to all consumers by expanding store accessibility and improving customer experience through store updates. The company aims to deliver exceptional value to shoppers nationwide by executing its ambitious store opening and refurbishment plans.
