There was commotion on a Sun Country Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Newark as a passenger wearing multiple face masks caused panic by shouting about gay people giving him cancer and claiming “the plane is going down.” The disruptive incident led to the aircraft making an unscheduled landing due to the unruly behavior.
Witness Seth Evans, seated across the aisle, recounted that the disruptive behavior began immediately after takeoff when the passenger started expressing delusional fears of being pursued by gay individuals. The individual, donned in over 15 masks, loudly accused gay people of radiating and causing him harm, even mentioning the presence of former President Trump at one point.
Despite intermittent outbursts, the passenger engaged in playing Candy Crush in between episodes of shouting. Upon landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago police intervened, handcuffing and removing the unruly passenger from the plane. Following the disruption, US Marshals questioned passengers before the flight resumed to its destination.
Sun Country Airlines acknowledged the incident, stating that the flight proceeded without further issues after the disruptive passenger was handed over to law enforcement. This disruption comes shortly after another incident involving a Jet2 passenger who caused a flight diversion by spitting on a fellow traveler during a drunken episode.
