PayPal has unveiled its inaugural debit and credit cards, along with a new loyalty program. These cards will be available in both physical and digital formats, allowing consumers to utilize their PayPal wallet for in-store purchases for the first time.
The new PayPal debit card will be directly linked to the user’s PayPal wallet and one of their bank accounts. In cases where the PayPal wallet lacks funds, the purchase amount will be deducted from the connected bank account. PayPal emphasizes that the debit card can be used globally without incurring transaction fees, while the PayPal credit card is accepted wherever Mastercard is recognized.
In conjunction with the card launch, PayPal is introducing a loyalty scheme where customers can earn points on both online and in-store transactions. Participants earn one point for every £10 spent, with the opportunity to redeem £10 when they reach 1,000 points. Additionally, shoppers receive ten points for every £10 spent using the PayPal debit card.
The loyalty program includes three tiers: Blue, Gold, and Black. Gold and Black tier members enjoy enhanced point values at checkout, access to VIP experiences, and other exclusive benefits. The scheme is designed to synergize with other loyalty programs, enabling users to stack and accumulate PayPal+ points alongside other rewards.

Tamer El-Emary, General Manager of PayPal UK, highlighted the commitment to British consumers and businesses, aiming to seamlessly integrate the convenience and rewards of PayPal into everyday transactions.
The introduction of PayPal’s debit and credit cards, in conjunction with the innovative loyalty program, signals a significant step towards enhancing the payment experience for consumers in the UK.
