Keir Starmer has responded to Nigel Farage’s criticism of the Prime Minister, accusing him of provoking the “radical left” by denouncing his party’s immigration policy as “racist.”
Farage, sensitive to criticism, claimed that the attacks on his proposal to deport legal residents of the UK would embolden the radical left and endanger the safety of his party’s campaigners.
Following the PM’s remarks during a Labour conference speech, where he labeled individuals advocating for the deportation of long-term UK residents as enemies of national renewal, Farage launched an 11-minute tirade.
In defiance of Farage’s complaints, the Prime Minister affirmed his commitment to combating divisive politics and emphasized the importance of his message for the nation’s future.
Labour has now shifted its focus onto Reform, with senior ministers launching scathing critiques of the right-wing party.
In his address, the Prime Minister acknowledged the public’s legitimate concerns about illegal immigration but condemned Farage and his allies for proposing to strip certain legally residing migrants of their rights, describing it as a moral transgression.
He highlighted instances of racism, such as graffiti targeting a Chinese takeaway owner, and rebuked the notion that individuals’ Britishness or Englishness could be determined by their skin color, emphasizing the contributions of long-standing residents to the country.
The Prime Minister concluded by vowing to oppose those who threaten national renewal with all available means, citing them as adversaries to progress and unity in the country.
