An unidentified resident has shared a concerning incident involving a surveillance camera placed on their property, which has sparked threats of violence from a neighbor. The disgruntled neighbor expressed intentions to “shoot down” the camera, causing distress to the homeowner and others in the vicinity.
The resident sought advice on the r/NeighboursfromHell Reddit page on how to resolve the conflict with the irate neighbor. However, the situation appears to be escalating as the neighbor has threatened police involvement and potential violent actions if any alterations are made to the property. The primary issue seems to revolve around the mounting of the camera, with the homeowner standing firm on not removing it.
The homeowner explained, “I positioned a trail camera on my private property, facing a public road in the mountainous area where I reside. The camera was set up low to capture activities, particularly coyote sightings, on the road. Upon witnessing the installation, my neighbor across the street reacted negatively, demanding immediate removal.”
“He vehemently opposed any object facing his residence, warning of police intervention or destructive measures if the camera remained. Despite my assurances that the camera was not directed at his property and was solely for wildlife observation, his hostility intensified,” the resident added.
Although the camera was taken down following the confrontation, there are calls from the public to reinstall it as a deterrent against the troublesome neighbor. Suggestions include reinstating the camera along with additional ones for surveillance purposes, potentially capturing any interference with the devices on video evidence.
Furthermore, there are recommendations to involve law enforcement to address the neighbor’s verbal threats of violence, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for intervention to prevent any harm to individuals or property.
