An annoyed Luke Littler has criticized the darts coach who questioned his participation in the World Youth Championship, referring to him as an ‘absolute helmet’. Littler, 18, competed at the tournament in Wigan recently but was defeated in the semi-finals by rising star Beau Greaves, who ultimately claimed victory.
‘The Nuke’ expressed his enjoyment of the event and commended Greaves, a three-time women’s world champion at just 21 years old. However, Cornwall was unimpressed by the situation.
“Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous,” stated the former PDC Tour Card holder on the Mission Darts Podcast. “It seemed like an attention-seeking move. I strongly disagree with his decision to play in the youth category when he is a world champion.”
Following Cornwall’s critical comments, Littler responded with a scathing post on social media, labeling Cornwall as an ‘absolute helmet’ and indicating his lack of familiarity with him.
In defense of his participation in the World Youth Championship, Littler explained, “It’s the same venue where professional players like Gian van Veen and Keane Barry compete, both tour card holders. Yet, I faced backlash for participating.”
As Littler pointed out, Cornwall also criticized Bunting for his playing position, questioning his lack of major wins and consistency. Cornwall expressed his opinion that Bunting’s stance at the oche was incorrect for achieving consistent performance.
