Alongside her was Stanley Tucci, who portrayed Nigel, the art director to Meryl’s character. The duo is currently filming scenes for the highly awaited sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2.
At the fashion show, Meryl sported Miranda’s iconic pixie cut, dressed in a chic tan coat accessorized with a leopard print belt and yellow-framed sunglasses. Despite the audience’s excitement, the 76-year-old actress walked past them to her seat without acknowledgment.
The original film, released in 2006, featured Anne Hathaway as the assistant Andi to Meryl’s character, Miranda Priestly. The sequel, set for a 2026 release, is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, continuing the story ten years later with Andi now an editor planning her wedding.
Meryl, Stanley, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt are all confirmed to reprise their roles in the sequel. Speculations suggest Emily’s character may aid Miranda with her magazine struggles. It is believed that Emily’s character, inspired by former Vogue writer Victoria ‘Plum’ Sykes, could hold a pivotal role in the storyline.
Fans have drawn parallels between Miranda and former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. As the sequel coincides with the original film’s 20th anniversary, anticipation is high for the return of these beloved characters.
