Glenn Gary Cameron, aged 61, has confessed to multiple crimes involving the sexual assault of eight women in Sydney from 1991 to 1993. His reign of terror, known as the ‘Night Stalker’ or the ‘Moore Park rapist,’ ended after modern DNA and fingerprint technology identified him.
Cameron’s capture at Sydney International Airport in February followed a breakthrough when his daughter’s DNA linked him to four cold cases. Subsequently, a covert operation at the airport led to his arrest after DNA testing on a beer glass and fork proved his involvement in the crimes.
The victims, ranging from 17 to 45 years old at the time of the assaults, were targeted near train stations, primarily of Asian descent. Cameron would lure them to Moore Park under the guise of offering cleaning work, then use a weapon to threaten and sexually assault them before releasing them.
Initially denying the charges during police interrogation, Cameron later admitted to 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, and indecent assault. Additionally, he confessed to 14 more charges, including indecent assault and detainment for advantage, to be considered in sentencing.
In the early 1990s, Cameron worked at a funeral parlor in Newtown after his discharge from the army due to drug use and absence without leave. Despite his criminal activities, he maintained a relationship with a woman he later married, with whom he had children.
After relocating to Alice Springs with his second wife, whom he met in Australia, Cameron is awaiting sentencing scheduled for the following month.
