A 34-year-old ex-nurse, Alexis Von Yates, was sentenced to two years in jail in the US for engaging in sexual activity with her 15-year-old stepson. She admitted to a charge of lewd and lascivious battery. Apart from the prison term, she received two years of community control, a decade of sex offender probation, and must complete 200 hours of community service along with covering court costs and fines.
Court records revealed that Von Yates’ husband, Frank Yates, discovered her with his stepson on the living room couch in July last year. She claimed that she pursued her stepson because he reminded her of her husband and allegedly joked about her sexual desires leading up to the incident.
The stepson recounted how the encounter unfolded, mentioning that Von Yates initiated the sexual acts despite acknowledging his age, expressing a desire for him to be older. The teen disclosed that Von Yates engaged in oral sex and intercourse without protection. Despite hearing noises from the garage, they persisted until the stepson’s father interrupted them upon returning home.
After the incident, the stepson did not disclose the events to his father, who in turn drove him to his grandparents’ house where he was discouraged from contacting his biological mother. Von Yates later expressed regret to the stepson for being caught by his father.
Following an anonymous tip from the stepson’s father, authorities were informed of the assault. Von Yates and her husband have since separated, as detailed in a prison report. When asked for a statement in court, Von Yates declined to comment.
