Neutrogena Addresses Hayden Panettiere Controversy

Date:

For months, demands for skincare brand Neutrogena to address an accusation by Hayden Panettiere made in May have been increasing. The calls intensified following the actor’s recent passing. Neutrogena has now issued a statement on Instagram, opting not to delve into specifics regarding the termination of their long-standing partnership with Panettiere or address the claim related to her discussion on postpartum depression.

In the Instagram post, where comments were disabled, Neutrogena acknowledged that they failed to provide adequate support to Panettiere during a challenging period and expressed regret for their actions. The brand emphasized that such behavior does not align with their values.

Panettiere, known for her roles in various TV shows and movies, served as a global brand ambassador for Neutrogena from 2005 to 2015. Following her public disclosure about battling postpartum depression in 2015, her partnership with Neutrogena came to an end. During an interview on a podcast earlier this year, Panettiere alleged that Neutrogena attempted to dismiss her for her remarks on postpartum depression by citing a morality clause in her contract.

Despite the incident, Panettiere stated that she never received any communication from Neutrogena afterward. The response from fans was swift, with some organizing a boycott against Neutrogena and creating social media content to condemn the brand’s actions.

In the wake of Panettiere’s untimely death, supporters have once again voiced their displeasure towards Neutrogena. They have flooded the company’s Instagram and Threads accounts, demanding a public statement addressing the allegations against the brand.

Neutrogena, in its Instagram post, expressed deep sadness over Panettiere’s passing and praised her as a valued member of their community. The brand refrained from immediate responses out of respect for the actor’s family. They commended Panettiere’s bravery in speaking out and pledged to contribute to raising awareness about postpartum depression by investing in community health initiatives to support women in need.

Further details on Neutrogena’s plans will be shared once they are put into action.
