Investors Sue Selena Gomez for Startup Fraud

Date:

A legal action was initiated against Selena Gomez, the renowned singer and actor, on Thursday by investors who alleged that she engaged in fraudulent activities by not fulfilling her obligations to develop and promote her mental health startup.

The investors injected close to $1.2 million US ($1.67 million) into Wondermind Global, a venture that was introduced in 2021 with a mission to enhance users’ “mental fitness,” as stated in the lawsuit filed in federal court in Delaware.

Investors claimed they were assured that Gomez, a major social media personality boasting over 500 million followers, would actively participate in steering the company as the head of marketing. However, they contend that Gomez and other key figures in the company failed to deliver on commitments, such as the creation of a mobile application.

The lawsuit alleges, “Gomez purportedly agreed to a contract requiring her performance but neglected her responsibilities.”

The plaintiffs further stated, “There was no authentic business in progress, let alone a profitable one,” emphasizing that the company fell short in meeting “even the most fundamental obligations, like timely payments to employees and vendors.”

A spokesperson for Gomez has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The lawsuit contends that the investors were oblivious to the company’s challenges until an online news report highlighted them in September 2025. The plaintiffs are seeking reimbursement of their investments along with legal expenses.
