A blast of cold weather is set to hit Britain this month, with temperatures dropping significantly, according to new weather maps. WXCharts data indicates that a widespread chill will grip the nation on Saturday, October 18. Overnight, temperatures are expected to range from 0C to 1C in Wales and parts of Scotland.
England will also experience the freeze, with morning lows ranging from 2C to 7C. Major cities like Birmingham, Stoke, Cardiff, and Leeds are expected to see temperatures as low as 2C to 7C.
In Northern Ireland, Belfast could drop to 4C, while other areas will range from 4C to 7C. Scotland is facing harsh conditions, with Dundee expecting 3C, Glasgow between 2C and 3C, and Edinburgh around 4C.
Parts of the country east of Fort William could see temperatures as low as 1C as cold air moves southward. Coastal areas in southern England may stay around 10C, while London and Norwich are forecasted to remain above 5C.
The Met Office predicts a transition to unsettled conditions later in October, with more rain, showers, and possibly strong winds. A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued in Scotland due to Storm Amy, causing travel disruptions and power cuts. Storm Amy has already brought winds of up to 100mph, leading to flight chaos, rescues, and a fatal incident in County Donegal.
