Italian actor Remo Girone has sadly passed away at 76 after a battle with bladder cancer. The esteemed resident of Monte Carlo, who passed away on October 3, was renowned for his performances in Italian and international cinema.
Girone rose to prominence for his role as a mob boss in the iconic mafia TV series La Piovra and garnered global acclaim for portraying Enzo Ferrari in the hit movie Ford v Ferrari.
His acting career commenced in 1974 with the film The Antichrist, leading to appearances in various Italian productions such as Father of the Godfathers, Malamore, Breath of Life, and Don’t Stop Me Now.
In addition to his Italian projects, Girone featured in American films, notably as Mafia boss Maso Pescatore in the 2016 crime drama Live by Night, sharing the screen with Ben Affleck.
In 2021, Girone’s illustrious career was honored with lifetime achievement awards from the Venice International Film Festival and the Flaiano Film Festival, recognizing his over five decades of versatile work in both Italian and Hollywood cinema.
