“UK Flood Warnings Issued in Six Regions”

Flood warnings have been issued in six regions across the UK, prompting high alert status.

The UK government’s website advises against walking, cycling, or driving through floodwater in these areas where flooding is expected. Additionally, there are 58 alerts in areas where flooding is possible.

The identified high-risk areas include:

Residents in flood-prone regions are urged by the Environment Agency to take precautions such as moving to higher ground or upper floors, and shutting off gas, electricity, and water if safe to do so.

Areas at risk of flooding also include the River Severn in Gloucestershire, North Somerset, the River Trent in Derbyshire, and the North Sea coast at Bridlington, among several other locations.

Individuals impacted by the situation can seek assistance by contacting the Floodline helpline at 0345 988 1188, sending a text to 0345 602 6340, or engaging with a Floodline adviser through live chat.

The Met Office reported that the start of winter is expected to be wet across the UK, with heavy rain particularly in western regions, potentially causing flooding and travel disruptions.

Today, an amber warning for rain is in effect for much of Wales, with predictions of up to 120mm of rain in some areas, mainly over high ground in south Wales. The national weather service anticipates rainfall between 20mm and 40mm countrywide, with hilly regions likely to experience up to 80mm.

Additionally, two yellow rain warnings are active for the day, covering various regions including the East Midlands, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Yorkshire and Humber, London, South East England, South West England, Wales, and the West Midlands.

A third yellow rain alert, in place until 9pm today, encompasses Central, Tayside & Fife, North East England, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, and Strathclyde.
