A woman has shared her distressing experience of her father’s sudden death during a pirate-themed boat party, expressing concerns about potential risks overseas. Nakita Colville, 27, was on the ‘luxury pirate ship’ excursion in Turkey with her family and around 600 other guests when tragedy struck. Her father, Peter Colville, went missing after venturing into the sea at the second swimming spot and was later found unresponsive in the water.
Witnessing her father turning purple, Nakita and her sister, along with other guests, frantically pulled him out of the sea. However, staff on the boat allegedly showed little concern and failed to assist with CPR. Despite the emergency, the party continued without seeking immediate help, with staff reportedly declaring him deceased.
The boat trip, named Legend Big Kral, was known for its entertainment and foam parties. Nakita mentioned that her safety-conscious father was surprised that the staff did not verify guest details upon boarding. Despite his initial concerns, Peter enjoyed the swim before the tragic incident occurred.
Peter, a father of six and grandfather of seven, was described as an experienced snorkeler and swimmer. Nakita was shocked to see her father in distress at the second swimming station, leading to his eventual rescue and transfer to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Despite efforts to determine the cause of death through postmortem examinations in the UK and Turkey, the investigation is ongoing.
Expressing her fears about the lack of regulation on party boats overseas, Nakita believes that more deaths could occur if safety measures are not improved. Reviews from other guests highlighted the crew’s inadequate response to the emergency, emphasizing the need for better training and protocols in such situations.
