Although he lost to Novak Djokovic, Musetti’s qualification was assured as Djokovic withdrew from the Finals. Musetti swiftly transitioned to Turin for the ATP Finals and is set to play against Taylor Fritz.
Expressing his joy on social media, Musetti described his qualification as a dream come true. The 23-year-old had aimed to win his third career title at the Hellenic Championship but fell short. However, he received confirmation of his ATP Finals spot from Djokovic after their match.
Musetti arrived in Turin, commending Djokovic’s adherence to tournament rules despite the timing of his withdrawal. The situation led to adjustments in the alternate lineup, with Casper Ruud stepping in as second alternate after Bublik moved up. Both Ruud and Bublik stand to earn without playing, with the potential for increased fees if they are called upon to compete.
