Residents in various towns and cities across the UK could witness snowfall this week as another wintry spell is anticipated.
Recent weather models indicate that heavy rain and snow are set to hit the UK as an Atlantic weather front moves eastwards on Saturday morning.
According to the GFS model, the storm is projected to first impact North Wales and the northern regions of England around 9am, with snowfall expected in areas like the Pennines, the Lake District, and Snowdonia. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is forecasted for the northeast and northwest of England.
By 3pm, the weather maps show significant snowfall concentrated in northern England and southern Scotland. Estimates suggest that up to 4cm of snow could accumulate in parts of northern England, particularly in the Pennines.
Looking ahead to next Monday, further snowfall is anticipated to sweep across Scotland, northern England, and central England. Cities such as Bangor, Stoke, Manchester, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, York, Harrogate, Middlesbrough, Durham, Newcastle, Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and Inverness are likely to be affected.
Fortunately, towns and cities are not expected to experience snow accumulations exceeding 1cm. However, elevated regions in England may see up to 4cm of snow, with the possibility of 8cm in northern Scotland.
The Met Office has indicated that temperatures will decrease towards the end of the week, with additional snowfall anticipated in December. The forecast for November 30 to December 9 predicts changeable and unsettled conditions across the UK, with a focus on low-pressure systems bringing showers or longer periods of rain, mostly in the western regions. Snow is likely to be limited to higher elevations in the north.
According to BBC Weather, temperatures are expected to rise this week, with any snow likely confined to the Highlands. The forecast through Sunday suggests continued variability in weather conditions, with fluctuating temperatures and rain affecting different regions of the UK.
Friday is expected to remain mild and windy, with showers and potential thunderstorms in northwestern areas. Saturday may bring heavier rain to southern parts of the UK, although the track of the system is uncertain. Cooler temperatures are anticipated by Sunday, returning to seasonal norms.
