“Play Airlines Ceases Operations: CAA Issues Guidelines”

Date:

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released guidelines following the sudden halt of all operations by Play Airlines (Iceland), which served Stansted and Liverpool airports. The CAA has confirmed the cancellation of all flights by Play Airlines, advising passengers not to go to the airport as flights will not be operational. Passengers are urged to make alternative travel arrangements if necessary.

Andrew McConnell, spokesperson for the UK Civil Aviation Authority, expressed regret over the airline’s decision to cease operations, acknowledging the impact on employees and customers. He recommended that UK customers visit the Civil Aviation Authority’s website for the latest updates.

In an official statement, Play Airlines announced the cessation of operations and flight cancellations, suggesting passengers check with other airlines for available options. The airline advised passengers who made payments via card to contact their card issuer for refunds, and those who booked through a travel agency in the EEA to seek assistance from their agent.

Additionally, Play Airlines informed passengers about potential rights under EU Air Passenger regulations in case of bankruptcy, directing them to the appointed administrator for claims. Passengers were encouraged to seek further guidance from www.icetra.is and www.kefairport.com, with the airline expressing regret for the inconvenience caused and thanking passengers for their understanding.
