A young police officer, Pc Faizaan Najeeb, aged 24, tragically passed away following a car accident while responding to a road crash. His colleagues fondly remembered him as a cheerful and dedicated officer. Pc Najeeb was fatally injured in a collision with a vehicle while attending to a single-vehicle crash in Raunds on September 19. Despite efforts to save him at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
A man in his twenties, who was detained at the scene, has been released on bail pending further investigation. Pc Najeeb, who served with the response team in Wellingborough, will be honored by retiring his collar number P1967 as a tribute. His former teammates expressed deep sorrow over his untimely demise, emphasizing his positive and uplifting presence within the team.
Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet extended condolences to Pc Najeeb’s family on behalf of the police force, acknowledging the profound loss felt by all. The department is providing support to the family through specialized officers as investigations into the collision continue. Additionally, an internal health and safety review is underway.
The Northamptonshire Police community observed a two-minute silence in memory of Pc Najeeb at the Wootton Hall headquarters, where a flag was flown at half-mast. The force expressed its commitment to honoring Pc Najeeb’s memory and supporting his family during this difficult time.
