An adolescent boy has alleged that a female educator spoke with him on the phone to arrange a sexual encounter. He also claimed that during a video call, she was unclothed in the shower with her exposed breast visible.
Krystal Sims, aged 30, is now facing legal charges and potentially up to five years of incarceration after supposedly contacting the underage individual who reported the incident.
The substitute teacher from Kentucky stated that she was scheduling a meeting for the student to apologize for his misbehavior in class and clarified that she had rejected friend requests from other students.
As per the New York Post, a detective from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was informed that Sims had been in contact with an underage male juvenile with the intention of meeting for sexual purposes.
The student mentioned that he first encountered Sims when she was substituting as a teacher and they remained in touch through Snapchat.
Law enforcement stated that shortly after initiating online communication, they began planning to engage in sexual activity.
A call recorded on August 22 captured a woman asking the student to meet up, while a subsequent video call was not recorded.
During the follow-up call, it is alleged that Sims was naked in the shower, exposing her chest. The detective mentioned in the report that the juvenile saw her exposed breast during the video call as she was nude in the shower. Others present during the call also confirmed seeing her exposed chest.
When questioned by authorities about the conversation, she supposedly admitted to being the woman in the recording but claimed she was simply arranging a meeting for the student to apologize for his prior actions.
Sims asserted that no physical interaction occurred between them and that she had declined multiple requests from male students on social media. She was arrested and charged with unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual activity or other prohibited acts.
Reports from the US indicate that the teacher was released from custody after posting a $25,000 cash bond on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 8.
If convicted, Sims could potentially face a prison term of up to five years.
