“Travel Blogger Discovers Hidden Gem: Humberside Airport Experience”

Date:

A pair of travelers had an unexpected experience when they embarked on a journey from the most tranquil airport in England. Molly Thompson, a travel blogger, and her partner Tom opted for a flight from Humberside Airport.

Humberside Airport, known as the calmest commercial airport in the country, caters to around 136,000 passengers annually. This is a stark comparison to Heathrow, the busiest airport, which served 83.9 million travelers in 2024.

Molly, aged 25, disclosed that despite living just 20 miles away in Yorkshire, she had never flown from the small Kirmington airport before, according to a report by Lincolnshire Live.

In a video on YouTube, Molly remarked, “At first glance, it looks more like a leisure center than an airport. We are from Beverley, East Yorkshire, and this is Humberside Airport, just south of the Humber Bridge, our local airport, yet I have never departed from here.”

Molly and Tom booked a flight from Humberside to Athens through Schiphol in Amsterdam. While waiting for their departure inside, Molly felt as though she was in a “school hall” rather than an airport.

Despite her initial surprise, Molly found the airport’s security checkpoint larger than expected upon passing through. In the departure lounge, she noted, “It’s actually more spacious than I imagined. I am pleasantly surprised because I didn’t anticipate having dining options here. The ambience is quite pleasant, almost like a lounge. They even have a duty-free shop, which took me by surprise.”

Identifying herself as a “Sky Scanner enthusiast,” Molly shared that she frequently looks for budget flights from Humberside Airport instead of more popular choices.

She added, “I am always on the lookout, constantly searching. I am a dedicated user of Sky Scanner, and I always check Humberside first. If I can connect through Schiphol, it saves me a lot of time, avoiding the need to travel to Manchester or London.”

However, Molly noted that while she would be willing to fly from Humberside Airport again, she often finds it to be pricier than nearby alternatives. She commented, “The overall experience here is simple, peaceful, and serene. I would choose to fly from here again if it was more affordable. If the prices are not significantly higher, I would definitely opt for this airport. Many travelers are connecting from Schiphol to various destinations worldwide.”

She praised the airport staff, including the pilot, for providing a superior experience compared to other airports she has visited, even after a thorough security check.

Humberside Airport offers flights to Amsterdam, Jersey, Aberdeen, Majorca, and Lapland in Sweden and Finland. It also facilitates hoist flights to Hornsea substations.
