Six models of Tower air fryers are being recalled due to concerns of potential overheating and fire hazards. The affected products were distributed through various retailers such as Argos, B&M, DID, Lidl, Poundland, Robert Dyas, Tesco, and the Tower Housewares website between January 2022 and April 2023.
Consumers are urged not to use these products if purchased and are advised to seek a refund or replacement through the Tower Housewares website. The model number can be found on the appliance rating label at the bottom of the air fryer.
Tower Housewares emphasized safety as their top priority and initiated the recall to ensure the highest safety and quality standards. The Office for Product Safety and Standards warned that the air fryers pose a fire risk due to potential overheating, failing to meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
In a separate safety recall incident, versions of the Citroen C3 and DS3s were recently flagged for potential airbag system faults, specifically affecting second-generation Citroen C3s produced from 2009 to 2016 and first-generation DS3s made from 2016 to 2019. This action follows a tragic incident in France where a woman was fatally injured by an airbag in a 2014 Citroen C3.
Stellantis, the parent company of Citroen, reported no faults in the UK but took proactive measures by removing around 82,000 affected models in France, impacting an estimated 120,000 drivers in the UK. The company reassured customers of its commitment to swiftly and responsibly address the issue.
