PGA Tour professional Jake Knapp’s girlfriend, Makena White, has tragically passed away at the age of 28. The couple had been in a relationship since August 2023 but went public in 2024 after Knapp secured his first PGA Tour victory at the Mexico Open.
Knapp, who turned professional in 2016, has recorded one career win and achieved four top-10 finishes this year. Despite his accomplishments, he failed to qualify for the Ryder Cup representing Team USA, which started last Friday.
White, originally from Canada, worked in surgical sales, specializing in providing medical equipment to vascular and cardiac surgeons. She was known to have a strong interest in sports, particularly hockey, and had a deep-rooted love for golf from a young age.
A statement shared on social media by White’s friend confirmed her untimely passing, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. The message highlighted White’s unique ability to make others feel special, her loving nature, and her adventurous spirit.
The couple was captured in photos on White’s Instagram account enjoying the scenery at North Berwick during the Genesis Scottish Open, where Knapp finished tied for 22nd. White had openly shared her affection for Knapp in her final Instagram post, expressing gratitude for sharing in his journey and looking forward to many more experiences together.
