A person in their thirties working in the motorsport industry has been accused of sexually assaulting one of the nurses who cared for Michael Schumacher. The incident reportedly took place at Schumacher’s residence in Gland, Switzerland, as detailed by Swiss newspaper 24heures.
The accusations stem from an incident in 2019, with the victim recently filing a criminal complaint over two years after the alleged assault. A trial is set to commence this week to address the matter.
According to the rape indictment, the individual assaulted the nurse in an upstairs bedroom of the house while she was providing care to Schumacher after his skiing accident in 2013. The assault allegedly occurred after a night of heavy drinking following an encounter in the billiard room of the Lake Geneva mansion.
The accused individual claims to have shared a previous kiss with the nurse at a club in Geneva, but she denies any significant relationship between them.
Notably, none of Schumacher’s family members are implicated in the incident, as they were reportedly absent during the events in question.
Over a decade ago, Schumacher, a seven-time Formula One world champion, sustained a severe head injury in a skiing accident. Since then, he has required constant care from a dedicated medical team at his home. His wife, Corinna, has maintained privacy regarding his condition but provided updates in a recent Netflix documentary.
In the documentary released in 2021, Corinna expressed the family’s ongoing support for Schumacher’s recovery efforts and emphasized the importance of maintaining his privacy and comfort at home.
Schumacher achieved his first world championship title with Benetton in 1994 and went on to secure additional titles while driving for Ferrari in the early 2000s.
