Kyiv Warns Russia: Oil Tankers Used for Drone Attacks

Date:

Russia has been cautioned by Kyiv for utilizing oil tankers as extensive maritime bases to launch drone attacks on European nations. This warning follows Ukraine’s response to Russia’s recent assaults on Kyiv, including the tragic death of a 12-year-old girl.

President Zelensky emphasized the importance of imposing sanctions that would impact Russia’s energy trade and tanker fleet infrastructure. Intelligence reports indicate that Russian tankers are being used to deploy and manage drones targeting European countries. Zelensky urged Europe to prevent Russian vessels from accessing regional waters to address this threat.

Reports of unidentified drones near military sites and critical infrastructure in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and other nations have raised concerns about potential “hybrid” operations linked to Russia. There are fears that the Kremlin could deploy swarms of drones from oil tankers, posing challenges to European air defenses.

Amid escalating tensions, Danish authorities reported sightings of drones near the Karup military base. Following Russia’s recent drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, resulting in casualties and damages, there are growing concerns about Russia’s aggressive behavior towards Eastern European countries.

In response to the attacks, US Vice President JD Vance mentioned the possibility of selling Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched a significant number of exploding drones and missiles during the recent assault, with most of them being neutralized by air defenses.

The attacks targeted various regions in Ukraine, resulting in casualties and injuries. The tragic death of a 12-year-old girl highlighted the devastating impact of the assaults. Zelensky condemned Russia’s actions and called for strong international pressure on Moscow.

Residents in Kyiv expressed shock and fear over the continuous attacks on the capital. Witnesses described the aftermath of the strikes, revealing the destructive consequences on civilians. The Kremlin has maintained that its military operations target only military sites, while neighboring countries like Poland have heightened their defenses in response to the escalating tensions.
