A vehicle linked to Erin Patterson, an Australian convicted of multiple murders, briefly appeared for sale on Facebook before being removed. Patterson, recently sentenced to life imprisonment for killing three relatives with a poisoned beef Wellington, had her red 2023 MG SUV listed on Melbourne’s Facebook Marketplace for AUD18,500 (£9,037), emphasizing its good condition and low mileage.
The advertisement was posted by Ali Prior, Patterson’s power of attorney, describing the car as well-maintained and efficient. Prior clarified that the sale was unrelated to Patterson’s conviction, stating it was a private listing. However, the ad was subsequently taken down.
During the trial, CCTV footage showed Patterson disposing of evidence related to the case. Following Patterson’s sentencing to life in prison with a minimum term of 33 years, a judge labeled her crimes as the most severe. Patterson’s victims included her in-laws and one surviving relative who suffered health complications from the poisoning incident.
Despite maintaining her innocence and claiming the mushrooms were accidentally added, Patterson received multiple life sentences. The judge highlighted the devastating impact of Patterson’s actions on both her victims and her own children, citing a breach of trust and a betrayal of family ties.
In a victim impact statement, the surviving relative offered forgiveness to Patterson but emphasized the need for justice. He expressed distress over Patterson’s calculated actions and questioned the motives behind such heinous crimes committed against well-intentioned individuals.
