Apple has introduced a new update to its Self Service Repair program, now allowing iPad owners to repair their devices at home. This initiative aims to extend the life of products by enabling users to replace components like displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports on their own.
Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, expressed the company’s commitment to creating long-lasting products. The self-repair service expansion is designed to provide customers with the means to prolong the lifespan of their devices while maintaining safety, security, and privacy.
Models eligible for self-repairs include Pad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16). This update follows the inclusion of 65 Apple products in the self-repair program, such as the iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio.
Apple has also increased its repair accessibility through various service options like Apple Store locations, Apple Authorised Service Providers, Independent Repair Providers, mail-in repair centers, Self-Service Repair, and the Genuine Parts Distributor program.
The expansion of the iPad self-repair service will commence on May 29 in the UK and Europe, providing users with more flexibility in maintaining and fixing their devices.
