An iconic rock star from the 1980s has shared that his spouse recently gave birth to their first child. Roland Orzabal, aged 64, and his wife Emily, aged 38, welcomed their newborn earlier this summer.
The announcement was made by Curt Smith, a member of Tears for Fears band and Roland’s close collaborator, who disclosed that the band decided not to tour this summer due to the guitarist’s expanding family.
Emily Rath Orzabal delivered the baby in June, with the name “Eula” being confirmed by some of her followers on Instagram. The revelation occurred in the comments section of one of her posts, where users congratulated the couple on their new arrival.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Curt elaborated on the situation, expressing that the band had plans for a summer tour which had to be canceled because Roland and his wife were expecting a baby.
This child marks the first for the musician and photographer duo. Roland also has two children, Pascal and Raoul, from his previous marriage to Caroline, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 54.
Roland and Emily privately tied the knot in 2020 atop Aspen Mountain in Colorado after their original wedding plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple initially eloped to honor their original date and later had a grand celebration at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire the following year.
