A British traveler has gone missing in Bali after disappearing on a beach, sparking a search operation amid concerns that he may have drowned. Harrison Edward Nada Kontounas, 23, was last spotted swimming with friends at Legian Beach when he was swept away by a strong tide. Despite his friends returning safely to shore, Kontounas struggled against high wind speeds of 30 km/h. Rescue teams, including helicopters and boats, were deployed to locate him.
The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office and other units mobilized to search for Kontounas. Officials emphasized the importance of caution during outdoor activities, especially beach visits. Despite extensive efforts, harsh conditions hindered search and rescue efforts at sea. Reports from a Facebook group highlighted the dangers of the beaches in the area, with warnings about strong currents and riptides.
Eyewitnesses described the distressing scene of lifeguards searching for Kontounas in challenging sea conditions, expressing frustration over the limited resources available for the search. As of now, Harrison remains missing, with his whereabouts unknown.
