The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for nine regions in the UK due to the impact of Storm Amy, which brought heavy rain and strong winds across the country over the weekend.
The Met Office predicts that areas in the northwest, western Scotland, and Northern Ireland will experience continued wet and windy conditions today. This weather pattern is expected to persist throughout the week, potentially leading to additional flood warnings being issued.
Most of the flood-risk areas are located near coastal regions or rivers. Flood alerts are issued as a precaution when flooding is possible, while flood warnings are issued when immediate action is needed.
The five-day weather forecast from the Met Office for October 6 to October 10 indicates wet and windy conditions in western Scotland and Northern Ireland today, with the possibility of isolated showers in the west. The forecast also mentions milder temperatures compared to previous days.
Tonight, rain is expected to persist in the northwest before moving southeast later in the night. Other areas will remain mostly dry with cloudy skies and some clear spells, particularly in the south, with relatively mild temperatures.
