A 17-year-old girl tragically lost her life due to electrocution when a power line broke while she was crossing the road in heavy rainfall. Nathaly Rodrigues do Nascimento, on her way to school in Bonfinopolis, Brazil, was fatally electrocuted during the unexpected accident. Her routine involved early morning work and a bus journey back to school. The incident occurred as she was returning to school for a test after leaving the stationery store where she was employed in Brasilia.
An eyewitness, Rejaine Rosa de Oliveira, recounted that Nathaly was struck by a deadly electric shock as two power lines snapped while she was crossing the road in the rain. Emergency services confirmed the live electrical cable at the scene. Sandra Gouveia, Nathaly’s school headteacher, described her as a polite and dedicated student, deeply mourned by the school community.
Following the tragedy, family and friends held a vigil in Bonfinopolis, demanding justice and accountability from Equatorial Goias, the electricity pylons management company in Goiás. Friends expressed disbelief and anger, stating negligence as the cause of Nathaly’s death. Equatorial Goias issued a statement expressing regret for the incident and pledged support to the victim’s family.
The company assured that safety measures were promptly implemented, and investigations into the accident causes were underway. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the heartbreaking occurrence as the community grieves the loss of a promising young life.
